ECP - EXTERNAL COUNTER-PULSATION THERAPY
ECP is a non-invasive circulatory assist therapy that increases
circulation, reduces the symptoms of angina by stimulating
the small branches of blood vessels which circumvent the blocked
arteries. ECP is an excellent treatment option for patients
who do not want surgery, who have angina, even a failed angioplasty,
bypass surgery or both and patients with congestive heart
failure.
ECHOCARDIOGRAM
An echocardiogram is a test that uses ultrasound waves to
examine the heart. It is a safe and painless procedure that
allows doctors to see the heart beating, visualize many of
the structures of the heart and receive a clear picture of
heart function that helps diagnose a variety of heart problems.
ARTERIAL DOPPLER
Arterial Doppler examinations evaluate the blood flow in
the legs or arms. The test is often done when there are symptoms
of leg or arm pain at rest or pain in the legs or arms with
exercise, which eases up when exercise is stopped. It is also
performed on patients who have numbness or tingling in the
hands or feet and when ulcerations form on the fingers, toes,
or legs.
VENOUS DOPPLER
A Venous Doppler Ultrasound will identify and find blood
clots in the deep veins of the legs.
24 HOURS HOLTER MONITORING
This is a continuous ambulatory ECG (Holter) monitor which
is capable of detecting any transient rhythm disorders of
the heart over a prolonged period of 24 to 48 hours in the
patients own home or work environment or even during sleep.
The test is indicated in patients with fainting spells, giddiness
and palpitations. Such patients may not have an abnormal heart
rhythm upon seeing their doctor. However, the abnormal heart
rhythm may occur at home or at work. The Holter monitor may
record such events at such times.
STRESS TEST
An stress EKG test allows doctors to learn how well your
heart functions when it is made to work harder. This test
can help detect heart problems that may not be apparent at
rest. The exercise EKG test is done while you walk on a treadmill.
During the test, an electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) records
the electrical activity of your heart.
